Reports to: Hospitality Coordinator and Food & Beverage Working Group Chair
General Accountability
The Food & Beverage Working Lead (F&B Lead) will be responsible for the planning and managing of Food & Beverage related services on venues for all of the Toronto 2017 Invictus Games client groups.
Key Responsibilities
Together with the Hospitality Coordinator, the F&B Lead will need to carry out the following tasks:
- Plan Food & Beverage operations on venues
- Communicate volume, scope and service levels to caterers and Functional Areas (FA’s)
- Collect venue space/power/water/tech requirements from caterers
- Ensure all necessary permits and licenses are obtained
- Work with other FA’s to determine standard venue operating procedures
- Collaborate with multiple FA’s to provide information for venue planning
- Manage food & beverage operations on venues
- Manage caterer and delivery of Food & Beverage operations on venue
- Supervise hospitality volunteer venue crews
- Reconcile meal vouchers and draft daily venue reports
Experience
- Management of catering operations at a multi-sport or multiple client group event
- In depth industry knowledge, including Food & Beverage costing, staffing labour models, and food service trends
- Understanding of health and safety practices, licensing and permitting
- Strong and efficient communication, both written and verbal
- Adaptable and flexible approach
- Exceptional people management skills- leader, coach, and mentor; prior experience in volunteer management helpful
- Diplomatic and discrete; personal maturity
- Good sense of humour and strong team player
Time Commitment
During the initial planning phase, this position requires approximately 8 hours a month, including meetings held on evenings or weekends. As we approach the summer of 2017, the time commitment will increase. During Games Time (Sept 22-Oct 1, 2017), this role will evolve and require a minimum of 8 shifts serving in a leadership role.
