Michael Landsberg

If you follow sports in Canada, then you’ll likely know of our next guest. One of the best-known personalities in Canadian broadcasting, Michael Landsberg has brought us some of the best stories of sport and people during his 20 years with Bell’s TSN.

Along with his love of sport, it is his own struggle with invisible wounds, and his personal battle with depression, which has drawn Michael to the Invictus Games. A long time spokesperson for the Bell Lets Talk campaign, Michael understands the impact of speaking openly about mental illness, and can relate to the struggle that many ill and injured service members and veterans face as a result of their service.

In this podcast, we go in-depth about Michael’s journey to find help, and the initiatives he’s championed to help those coping with their own battles. He even started his own #SickNotWeak initiative, a not-for-profit organization which got its name from a debate about what mental illness is – and is not. During the debate, Michael shouted, “Obviously I am sick, but I sure as hell am not weak. I am sick, not weak”. It stuck.
